Why Forgive?, written by Johann Christoph Arnold; released in paperback in May 2014 by Plough Publishing.

Why Forgive?

A new year is a good time to take stock of grievances, grudges, and other negative thoughts that stand in the way of living a fully present and gratitude filled life. Rising above those destructive feelings often requires forgiveness of the person(s) who wronged us. Sometimes, we also need to forgive ourselves. This book will get us there.

“Why Forgive?” uses the stories of everyday people who have found a way to forgive the past. Some of their stories involve events that most of us will never experience; genocide, violent crimes and gang warfare. Other stories are about more common hurts that can build up resentment and anger over time: gossip, backbiting, and tension at home or at work.

Arnold provides ample space for the unique stories to be told and it is those narratives that teach us. We learn the importance and the power of choosing to forgive…or choosing not to. In either case, we learn that forgiveness is closely tied to inner peace; it is then our choice to go there or not.

This book is a powerful read because the need to forgive is universal while actually forgiving is rarely easy. If you (or a loved one) are struggling with how to forgive, consider this book as an additional resource to help you move forward. Click here to order it from Amazon.com.
