After the first weekend of March Madness, two things are certain.

First, you never know who will win any given game. Busted brackets are everywhere!

Second, teamwork is a requirement for championship teams. There are five starters on a basketball team, but winning teams know their bench strength can make all the difference. A team might have one or two superstars, but they can’t play and win by themselves. The coach might be a future Hall of Famer, but he’s not the one driving for a basket. Success requires the whole team; starters, bench, head coach, assistants, locker room staff, trainers, families and more.

Here are a few thoughts on the difference teamwork can make in the workplace, too:

Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results. -Andrew Carnegie

Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team. -John Maxwell

We are not a team because we work together. We are a team because we respect, trust and care for each other. -Vala Alfshar
