Last weekend we went to see Going In Style, a light-hearted comedy remake with a bit of a serious underlying social message about aging in America. I’m not sharing any spoilers when I tell you that the three main characters, brilliantly played by Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Alan Arkin, conspire to rob a bank after their employer terminates their pension fund. The script is funny, the actors are funnier; I recommend seeing it to escape all the serious “stuff” we face these days.

I won’t tell you how the movie ends, but this comment made by Alan Arkin’s character stayed with me:

I’m experiencing this weird feeling…I think it might be happiness!

Think about your life.

Is happiness a “weird feeling” for you?

Do you recognize happiness when you feel it?

Are you fully present to the many little joys in an average day?

Are you looking elsewhere for happiness when it’s right there, in your heart?
