Even though I participate in it several times a month, I still marvel at how easy it is for people across great distances to flip a switch or hit a couple keys and see each other in real time.  Skype, FaceTime and similar technologies allow almost instantaneous connection, not much different from sitting across the room.

Today, I am thankful for the visionaries who see not just what is, but what might be.  The people who, as Emily Dickinson wrote, dwell in possibility.

Business people can conduct personal meetings a thousand miles apart.  Old friends can reconnect from different parts of the country.  Grandparents and grandchildren can nurture bonds across the country.

If there is an old acquaintance, former professional peer, long lost friend or relative with whom you would like to reconnect, go for it!  A phone call is a great start, but actually seeing each other and enjoying a conversation complete with hand gestures, facial expressions and other body language is quite another.  Just imagine the possibilities!

What are you thankful for?
