Chapter One of The Impact Equation opens with this intriguing line:

There are two types of people in this world,” Brett Rogers said. “You are either a head of lettuce or an apple tree.”

By the end of the first page, I was already sucked in, eager to read more about really making things happen (the apple tree does, by the way).  Chris Brogan and Julien Smith have partnered once again to author an enjoyable to read book that combines personal insight, a variety of tools with direction how best to employ them, and an emphasis on people in achieving goals.

There are a lot of people who can talk a good game but a much smaller number of people who really make a meaningful impact on the world.  The first step is knowing what your message is,  then amping it up, sharing it via the right tools to the right audience and then knowing how to measure the impact your message has.  Does it influence hearts and minds?  Does it prompt action?  Does it lead to change?

The Impact Equation is simple: Impact = C x (R + E + A + T + E).  Got it?

OK, maybe it’s not that easy on its own; that’s why there’s a book!  Read it and you’ll see that it’s really not that complicated, either.  Whether you’re just starting out or well experienced, there is valuable content for all.  Brogan and Smith serve as mentors-in-print, sharing stories of how their formula has worked for themselves and others.

If you want to build relationships, be relevant in sharing ideas, and really have an impact on the world you live and work in, this book is your how-to manual.
