I haven’t written a Thank You Thursday post in a while. With Father’s Day just a few days away, it’s a perfect time to express some gratitude!

There are many Dads in my family. Today, and everyday, I am thankful for them.

I have written several times about my Dad. He’s been gone for over ten years now but rarely does a day go by that I don’t think about him. Dad instilled in me a solid work ethic, logical and organized problem-solving, a servant leader’s heart, a spiritual approach to life, and encouraged my independent streak. I am thankful always for my final memory of him; his last words to me on his dying day were, “I’m glad you’re here.

My father-in-law is 82 years old. Dad B is independent, funny, smart and just a little on the irreverent side. With five children, twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, his legacy is long-reaching. My mother-in-law died about five years ago and Dad B taught us how to carry on with living even in the midst of great sadness. Over the years, he set the example of fatherhood for my husband and, for that, I am very thankful.

I have one brother and four brothers-in-law. While they are very different from each other, they are all terrific human beings and great Dads. Our families, especially their children, are blessed by their presence.

Watching our son interact with his son is nothing short of joy for us. He and his wife have built a loving home and we are fortunate to have them nearby. We delight in all that our son is and thank him for being a good man and a terrific father to our oldest grandson.

I will always be thankful to my son-in-law for the gift that is our youngest grandson. That adorable little boy has brought so much love and laughter and happiness to our daughter’s life and to ours.

Last, but certainly not least, my husband Ken has been and is an incredible father to our children and is now a devoted grandpa to the two boys mentioned above. Ken can’t enough of our little grandsons and they absolutely adore him. Nothing lifts his mood and warms his heart like spending time with either one of them. There isn’t anything Ken wouldn’t do for our children or grandchildren. Each one of us are blessed by his presence in our life.

Happy Father’s Day, one and all!
