It’s Friday morning. I’m doing laundry. I’m making summer salads for the weekend. I’m watching – no, listening – to the Today Show. Nothing terribly exciting.

I’m also dancing in my kitchen.

Why?

Why not?

The Today Show Summer Concert Series features DNCE today. I’ll admit I didn’t recognize the name, but once the music started, of course I recognized their music.

It’s amazing how a little dancing picks up the spirit.

Friday food for thought:

Why not dance?

“Dancing provides physical, psychological, and social benefits galore, so put on your dancing shoes and follow along.” –The Many Health Benefits of Dancing, by Berkley Wellness

Dancing improves your mood, helps with balance, supports weight management, is a great solo or group activity, and positively impacts aerobic health.

So, what are you waiting for?

Are you sitting at a desk? Chair dancing works. Driving in your car; ditto (just keep your eyes on the road, please!). At home with your kids? Get them up and show them what fun great music and dance is. Going out tonight? Find a place to dance with your friends, your partner, your spouse or just whirl around by yourself. Or, if you’re like me today, home alone doing nothing special; make it a little more fun by turning up the music and dancing your way through it.

Here is the clip of DNCE singing Cake by The Ocean on this morning’s Today Show. Go ahead, why not dance?
