As I walked the Ocean City beach last month waiting for the sun to rise and shine, I noticed a trail of bird tracks distinctly separate from the others. I couldn’t help but smile. BirdsĀ are, of course, commonplace at the beach. But usually, where there’s one…there’s more. I wondered why this one was alone.

Was it searching for breakfast, unnoticed by the rest? Was it bucking peer pressure and refusing to dance on the water’s edge? Was it looking for a break from the squawking of the bird crowd? Or, was it just trying to leave its own mark, devil may care?

Think about your own “tracks.” How do you separate yourself from the crowd? How do you blaze your own trail? How will you leave your mark?

Leave Your Mark
