One of my favorite workshops is “Influencing Others Above, Below and Sideways; Leading In Every Connection.” I generally present this to mid-level and emerging leaders, who are typically eager to learn how to lead more effectively. They also face many unique challenges associated with leading from the middle and I enjoy helping them see new possibilities for their role.
My last content slide includes these four success tips. As I’m getting prepared to deliver the presentation again this week, I found myself thinking that these are really success tips for all of us. Regardless of position, title, challenge or opportunity, being these four things at all times will help you succeed.
Be integrious: everyone might be watching; no one might be watching
Be of service: seek first to help others reach their goals
Be authentic: people will know if you aren’t being real
Be fully present: to the people, the energy, and the situation around you
