In the last week we gave thanks, enjoyed great shopping deals on Black Friday, shopped local on Small Business Saturday and tried to break the internet on Cyber Monday. Today is the day to give.

Giving Tuesday 2014

If your organizationdoesn’t have anything planned, here are a few quick & easy, low-cost/no-cost last minutes ideas to share in the spirit of the day:

Challenge your team members to spend a dollar less on lunch today and to use that dollar to pick up canned goods or non-perishables.  Gather them in a central location and drop them off to a local food pantry after work.

Pick up a box of New Year’s cards. Have each person on your team write one to a soldier serving overseas. Drop the cards off at your local red Cross location for distribution to the military. (You might want to call them first to confirm participation.)

With your team’s buy-in, contact a local charity today and adopt a family for the upcoming holiday. Each team member can buy one item on the wish list between now and the date gifts are due for wrapping and delivery.

Or, pick up granola bars to give your team a surprise mid-afternoon snack. Or, give each person an extra attaboy, attagirl. Or, pick up Life-Savers to share with your team, because they solved a challanging problem. Or…well, you get the idea.
