Inspiration can be found in so many places. On Sunday, as a baseball fan, I was trying to catch the highlights of the Hall of Fame induction speeches. I enjoy the emotion and gratitude that is often on display as the inductees share stories of people and events that impacted their lives.

It was quite the class of superstar players and managers this year, but I kept hearing sportscasters refer to Frank Thomas’ speech in particular. I knew I had to watch it.  And, so,  early Monday morning I did.

Near the end of his tearful, heartfelt speech, he said this:

To all you kids out there: There are no shortcuts to success. Hard work. Dedication. Commitment. Stay true to who you are.

I don’t think there’s much else to say. I hope all the kids were listening (and the grown-ups, too!).

Tuesday Tidbits are weekly messages I send to my leadership team. They are generally short & sweet, often focused on leadership or teamwork, always positive and, hopefully, motivational. I hope you also find some meaning in them.
