I was sad to hear of Maya Angelou‘s passing last week.  Her life story is fascinating, her stories and poetry beautiful, her wisdom for the ages.  So, of course, I had to find a way to make it work related!

In a 2012 interview with Beautifully Said Magazine, Dr. Angelou said:

“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel.”

Now read it with a leadership perspective, substituting the word “people” with “your team members” and the word “you” with “I”.

I’ve learned that my team members will forget what I said, my team members will forget what I did, but my team members will never forget how I made them feel.
