Tomorrow, I get to attend two sessions at the University of Dayton Center for Leadership and Executive Leadership Development.  The sessions will be presented by one of my favorite authors, Steve Farber.

I have written both on this site and others about Greater Than Yourself and The Radical Leap, two of Steve’s books and the basis for Wednesday’s talks.  (Click here for more info about Steve’s writing.)  I registered months ago and am really looking forward to a day of leadership refreshment and inspiration!

This weekend, I re-read Greater Than Yourself to prep for the experience.  Here is my favorite passage from the book, defining real leadership:

…real leadership is not about calling yourself “leader”; rather, it’s about taking up the cause to change some piece of the world for the better.  Real leadership, in other words, is an extreme act rooted in love and motivated by a desire to create a better world – whether it’s the world of your company, team, neighborhood, or family.  Simply put, real leadership is Extreme Leadership.

Love that – – Leadership… is an extreme act rooted in love and motivated by a desire to create a better world.

What is your favorite definition of leadership?  Who is your favorite leadership author?

Tuesday Tidbits are weekly messages I send to my leadership team. They are generally short & sweet, often focused on leadership or teamwork, always positive and, hopefully, motivational. I hope you also find some meaning in them.
