Are you watching the Republican National Convention? Will you watch the Democratic National Convention in a couple weeks?

Today, I am thankful for the political system we have here in the United States of America.

Agreeing or disagreeing with one party or the other isn’t the point. Being freely exposed to differing political ideals, seeing the candidates and hearing the views from all sides, expressing our own views, being able to make our individual choice; that is the foundational promise of our country.

So many people get so hung up on one issue or another, they become blind to the greatness of the opportunity. No one issue is going to make or break our future. However, if we as citizens of this country do not freely debate and choose, then we are doomed. If we don’t take seriously the privilege of freely casting a vote, we are doomed. If we don’t listen, learn, speak, share, respect, and participate in the political process, we are doomed.

Don’t get me wrong. It’s not perfect; no system is. But I would rather live in this country with our political system than in any other.
