The first week of August is National Simplify Your Life Week. One extension of that can be simplifying your work life. Here are some areas to look at:

Are you a paper piler/stacker/accumulator? Take some time and go through all the paper you have. Is it necessary? Is it current? If not, simplify your work life and get rid of it.

What about emails? Here’s one I’m constantly working on. Do you keep too many? Get too many? Share too many? If so, simplify your work life by filtering, deleting, or removing yourself from unnecessary lists.

Do you automatically go to every meeting you are invited to? Should you? Are you bringing/getting any value out of the meeting? Simplify your work life by really assessing meeting invitations before accepting.

How many old electronic files do you have? Are they still relevant? Have you referred to them in the last year? If not, simplify your work life by using the delete button.

You can simplify your work life. It takes being fully present to your activities, habits, and opportunities. Invest some of your time and energy and you will reap the benefits for a long time.

Tuesday Tidbits are weekly messages I send to my leadership team. They are generally short & sweet, often focused on leadership or teamwork, always positive and, hopefully, motivational. I hope you also find some meaning in them.
