Perspective is an interesting dynamic.  Suddenly, my kidney stones don’t seem like such a big problem…

My daughter, Heather, emailed me on Saturday, asking if I could help spread the efforts of #TeamMeg.  It turns out that “Meg” is a friend of @ValerieSimon, a friend of Heather’s. Megan is going through a very difficult time and could really use some support.

Megan is Valerie’s sorority sister, a mother of two beautiful young girls, and was recently diagnosed with cancer.  The cancer has spread to her liver and to two places in her bones. Megan asked Valerie to help tell others about the illness, because she just couldn’t muster the strength to do it herself.

Sad, right?  But, not entirely hopeless.

Megan is a good candidate for a clinical trial at MD Anderson, which, unfortunately, her health insurance will not cover.  Megan is appealing this decision. Megan’s husband is busy assembling a team of doctors and other experts to get the best possible information, advice and treatment for Megan.

In the meantime, Valerie and others are taking action. You can help, too.

If you would like to read more about Megan’s story, click HERE to read Valerie’s post on PRStudChat.com.  You can follow Megan’s story HERE on her Caring Bridge site. (Read my previous post about Caring Bridge.)  And, if you are so moved through your compassionate heart, and if you are financially able, consider donating towards getting Megan that clinical trial.  Even if you can’t help financially, please send positive thoughts and prayers for strength and healing her way.

At one time or another, we all need help from someone else.  Megan needs our help now.
