Yesterday afternoon I attended the Central Ohio author’s fair at OCLC, sponsored by Business First.  About twenty authors were there to sell their books, of course, but also to talk about their passion, careers, and the writing process.  Some offered to attend book club meetings, several signed books, and they all inspired the hopeful writers in attendance.

Today, I am thankful for the kindness and generosity of our local authors.

Not only were they eager and open to sharing,  but nearly all of them were equally inquisitive.  They welcomed visitors to their tables.  My experience was that they asked about my career, my life, if I write, what inspires me, etc.  I expected the authors to be polite and interested in what each person had to say, but it they seemed genuinely interested in why I attended the author fair and why I might be interested in their book’s topic.

I’m also thankful for the event host and sponsor for working together and bringing this opportunity to Central Ohioans.  I believe this was the first such author fair.  Hopefully, it was the first of many to come.

And, yes, I bought some books.  This photo is mine!

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it. -William Arthur Ward
